“Sorry, I am not very fond of it” Syrena said before leaning over to her ear and whispered. “I am allergic to it” Although it was a lie, it was the only thing she can think of to say rather than tell her about being a mermaid. Watching Pascal, she knew that the little chameleon knows that she is a mermaid but if Rapunzel doesn’t know, that’s all that matters. “Maybe cause I swim a lot around there for fun, he thinks that”
“Oh well he makes other things I’m sure you won’t have to eat the fish if you don’t want.” Rapunzel lead her inside tucking pascal in the satchel she carried around with her. “Maybe, Pascal has an exaggerated imagination. It’s fun when we play games thought. So where are you staying? Anywhere around here?”
Patches waved at Rapunzel and grinned a missing toothy grin. “Welcome aboard Princess, and might this be?”
“Oh Patches meet Syrena, she’s my friend. Hope you don’t mind that I invited her.”
“Oh no of course not! The more the merrier.”
“That’s great, thank you Rapunzel” Syrena said with a soft smile, following in beside her as they got closer to where Rapunzel’s friend was.
“I am actually in the castle, Marina gave me a room to stay at since I have no other place to stay at for the time being” She answered before giving a small wave to the man before them. ”Why thank you, it’s nice to meet you Patches”
“Indeed, it’s very different from the music I have heard or even sang of” Syrena smiled, thinking back to the music that she and her sisters sang together, something wasn’t like music such as this. “And out of curiousity, what was that you were playing? It sounded like you played it for a long time..”
“Ah! That, my dear, is called a ukulele! Do not confuse it with a guitar, for they are very different instruments! The uke is pitched much higher, and only has four strings, and it is also more difficult to play,” Naveen bragged. “It is a standard instrument in smaller jazz bands, such as these. But yes, I have been playing it since I was a boy! Music comes quite natural to me.”
“Really?” Syrena was thinking about the very instrument that Naveen was speaking about, imagining it in her mind and how it played as well. “How fascinating and you been playing ever since you were a boy? Wow, you must love playing it then, hm?”
“Isn’t it amazing!?” Naveen was so excited he almost tipped his chair over. “It is so different from anything else! From the first moment I heard it, I knew I had to come hear it for myself.”

“I hope I do” Syrena said with a hopeful smile, her hand moving to grab a piece of bread and take a bite into it. “Jazz music?” She asked, shaking her head while answering again. “Sorry but I never heard of such a thing before..”
“Oh ho ho, you have been missing out,” he waggled a finger at Syrena. “But just wait,” Naveen took one more roll off the table and trotted up to the stage in the restaurant. He found his ukulele where he had left it and whistled to the boys in the band, and Louis, to come join him playing the music. Together they played a lively tune as Naveen danced, and spun his way around the stage. As the song ended everyone burst into applause, and Naveen bowed, blowing kisses to them all. He jumped off the stage and returned to their table. “That,” he said plopping down in his seat, “is jazz.”
Syrena was now curious to know what this Jazz music was but watching Naveen run off to the stage, she was going to learn what it exactly was. Watching and listening him and the others play, she couldn’t help but tap her foot along to the beat of it. When it was done, she clapped happily as the prince strolled back to the table. “Wow, that was amazing. I never heard such wonderful music before in my life”
